Dirt flies as cars race in the 2011 Rally of the Tall Pines

I’m busy shooting the Tall Pines Rally in Bancroft Ontario. We’ve had an intense day of sideways cars and flying dirt as drivers battled it out for the 2011 Canadian Rally Championships.

I got out for a nice solo rip today. Hopefully not the last of the season but just incase the ground goes all white all of a sudden I wanted to make sure I got out one more time.

I decided to go explore a small pit area I had discovered on my way home from Arnprior a few weeks ago. The last time I was there I was on my way home and the sun was setting quickly so I didn’t have the opportunity to fully explore it like I had wanted to. The photo above is the entrance to the pit area. As you go down this road take the first left that doesn’t have a chain across it and you’ll drive right in. This appears to be a road allowance and even shows up on google maps a a road that goes all the way through.

There is a nice selection of wooded tracks and open sandy pit area to challenge all sorts of riders. After an hour of bombing around my arms were killing me and I was drenched in sweat despite the temperature being slightly above zero.

As you can see from the map there are all sorts of various side trails and loops that can be explored. I tried to go down many of them but since I was along I didn’t want to put is too hard and get stuck.

So the next time you’re out and looking for somewhere new to ride take a look at the Spruce Ridge Pit.

Art-Is-In Bakery is really one of the best lunch spots in town. The lineup out the door seem to agree.
