It’s been a long time…

by on May.04, 2018, under From The Field

I’ve been neglecting this blog for a long time. I’m not sure what it is. I’ve been doing more and writing less. I spend enough time on the computer at work so I guess the thought of spending leisure time mucking about online isn’t as appealing as it once was.
I’m still enjoying the outside as much as ever before but in slightly different ways. I’ve put more effort in recently trying to get in shape by running. I want to bike some more but I have some maintenance to take care of first. I might just bit the bullet and drop it off at the bike shop instead of trying to do everything myself.
My motorbike has been sitting as well. I’m trying to make an effort this year to not commute with it every day. By having street tires on I never went offroad once last year because the thought of swapping rims back and forth was too much of a mental block. With the motorbike out of the commuting picture I’m hoping to ride to work (if the rain every stops…)
Other than that I have a camping trip I’m trying to get organized but it’s still a month out so I’m not panicking. I’ve invited some friends and I’m hoping everyone is on board with the idea.
Maybe I’ll find some other ideas of what to post here. I’ve never really looked but I assume people find this blog from time to time and it helps them with their research.
Happy trails

Overland Adventure Rally

by on Jun.13, 2014, under From The Field, Motorcycle

This is the second year for Lawrence Hacking’s Overland Adventure Rally. Lawrence is the first Canadian finisher of the Dakar rally and will have a special guest of Simon Pavey who is also a Dakar finisher. Should be an amazing event and I’m all signed up to go!

New Tires

by on Jul.19, 2012, under From The Field

Bought myself some new tires for my mountain bike. I was worried that the 10+ year old tires that were on there were going to disintegrate while I was flying down the hill. I got some new tubes as well. I’ve been riding from my place and hitting the trails in Gatineau. This is so much cheaper than my motorbike. I could have bought 6 of these tires for the cost of one motorcycle tire, and I buy the cheaper ones!

Riding to Fitzroy

by on Jul.14, 2012, under Camping, From The Field, Photos, Travel

Had a great ride with Jane and Jeff today. Hopefully it cools down a bit so we can sleep. I think I figured out the image rotation thing too so I should not have any more upside down photos !
